artist bio

coming from a family of creative professionals in visual arts and music, i was exposed to art and design at an early age. it wasn’t a direct path to graphic design, but it informed and influenced so many of my life choices, that once i realized i could design things for a living, i knew i’d found a lasting and rewarding vocation.

first and foremost, i’m a second-generation angeleno: born, raised and educated locally at both ucla extension for graphic design and ucla college of letters & science for a bachelor’s degree in french literature. i got my start at a service bureau while completing my degree doing graphic production at electronic publishing specialists, inc., took to it quickly and learned the ropes with invaluable on-the-job experience in drum scanning, color correction, proofing, and film output for offset printing, which gave me a strong production background and technical understanding of all the factors that go into producing a great finished piece. from there, i went on to become the in-house designer for the national association of television program executives [natpe], a non-profit tv association, where i was promoted to art director. as the sole in-house designer, I planned all levels of creative production, took all types of print projects from concept to completion, prepared exhibition graphics for their annual conference & exhibition, and redeveloped their identity and brand materials. I also spent some time at entertainment ad agency, blt communications, where I adapted key art for major films into full ad campaigns [magazine, newspaper, outdoor & environmental]. most recently, i was a senior graphic designer for earthlink, which allowed me to develop fresh looks for new products as well as uphold longstanding brand identity for existing services with an outstanding design team.

for more than 10 years, i have maintained a freelance practice, which is what i am now dedicated to full-time. i’ve also maintained professional affiliation with an american institute of graphic arts [aiga] membership for more than 8 years. it has always been my goal to work on a variety of projects that allow for new ideas to drive great design, and now i have that opportunity in my full-service print design studio.

work aside, i also love taking pictures, cooking, tasting wine, reading good books and magazines, taking road trips around my home state and beyond, and rediscovering my hometown on foot, bike or metro. i can usually be found in echo park, tending to plants, petting my cats, trying new recipes, and putting in quality time with friends and family.
